Trybe (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is operated by Panthergaze Ltd (“the operator”). Trybe is a platform that connects people living abroad with others from their homeland through communities and optional dating. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Trybe, why we process it, who can see it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over your data. It applies to everyone who visits or uses Trybe, whether or not they have an account.
This is a draft prepared for the operator's review before publication. Where a fact depends on information the operator must confirm (registered address, data-hosting location, specific retention periods, supervisory authority), it is shown as [Owner to provide …] and listed in the owner-review checklist at the end. It is not yet a published policy.
1. Who operates Trybe and how to contact us
- Platform / trading name: Trybe.
- Legal operator (data controller): Panthergaze Ltd.
- Registered address: [Owner to provide: Panthergaze Ltd registered address]
- Privacy and support contact: trybehelp@gmail.com
2. Personal information we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address; your password is handled by our authentication provider and is not stored in plain text by us. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares (such as your name and email address).
Profile information. During onboarding you provide your age, gender, occupation, country of current residence (which we verify from your device location during registration), your country of origin (nationality — chosen once and not changeable afterwards), city, languages, interests, what you are looking for, and an optional profile photo, cover photo, and biography.
Community content. When you post, start a topic, comment, reply, or chat in a community, we store that content together with your display name and profile photo as shown at the time.
Optional dating profile (18+). Dating is a separate, optional part of Trybe. To use it you must first confirm you are at least 18 years old. If you choose to create a dating profile, you provide a display name, date of birth (we show your age only, never your birth date), nationalities, gender, the genders you want to meet, preferred age range, nationalities you are interested in, languages, interests, relationship intention, a biography, and photos (stored privately). Your likes, passes, matches, and messages with an active match are stored. You can also choose whether Trybe Plus members exploring your location with Passport Mode may discover you.
Residence and Passport destination. Your actual country and city of residence are stored as part of your dating profile and are shown to others as “Lives in …”. If you are a Trybe Plus member using Passport Mode, the foreign destination country and optional city you are exploring are stored separately and never replace your real residence; other members see them truthfully labelled as “Exploring …”.
Private messages. Private messages you send and receive — both within the Messages feature and within an active dating match — are stored so they can be delivered and shown to you and the other participant.
Identity verification (optional). If you request a “Verified” badge, you may upload a photo of an identity document or capture a selfie. The uploaded material is reviewed by an automated verification tool to decide whether to approve it.
Trybe Plus subscription information. If you subscribe to Trybe Plus, payment is processed by our payment processor, Stripe. We store the fact that a subscription exists, the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, the plan, the subscription status, the paid-through period, and cancellation and billing events received from Stripe. We do not store your full card number — card details are handled by Stripe.
Usage and technical data. Our hosting and platform provider (Base44) collects standard technical data — such as IP address, device and browser type, and server logs — to operate and secure the service. We may also use aggregate, non-identifying analytics to understand how the app is used.
3. Why we process it and the legal bases
Trybe is intended to be used by people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, so we rely on the EU/UK GDPR and applicable national data-protection law. The specific legal basis for each activity is summarised below; where a basis depends on the operator's confirmed jurisdiction or a balancing test, it is marked for confirmation.
- Contract: creating and managing your account, operating communities, running optional dating discovery, matching and messaging, delivering private messages, verifying your identity when you request it, and providing and billing Trybe Plus.
- Legal obligation: keeping records we are required to keep (for example, billing and tax records retained by Stripe and by us where applicable) and responding to lawful requests.
- Legitimate interests: moderating content, handling reports, keeping the platform safe, securing the service against abuse, and improving and analysing how it is used. [Owner to confirm the legitimate-interests balancing assessment for moderation, security, and analytics before publication.]
- Consent: optional dating (including your 18+ confirmation), allowing Trybe Plus Passport Mode users to discover you, the use of your device location during registration, and any non-essential cookies or analytics we may add later. You can withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing it does not affect processing that has already taken place.
4. Which profile information is visible to other members
- Community profile: your name, photo, cover photo, country of residence, country of origin, city, languages, interests, occupation, what you are looking for, and bio, plus the community content you post, are visible to other members of the relevant community.
- Dating profile: your display name, age, nationalities, city and country of residence, and the preferences and photos you choose to share, are visible to eligible members during dating discovery. Your exact date of birth, email, and phone are never shown.
- Passport Mode: when a Trybe Plus member explores another country, others see that member truthfully as “Exploring <destination>” rather than as a local. Free members are shown within their real country of residence only.
- Private messages: visible only to you and the other participant (and to authorised moderators/administrators where required for moderation or legal reasons).
- Topics pending approval: a new community topic is visible only to its author and to authorised moderators until it is approved; once approved it becomes visible to the community.
5. Who receives your information and why
- Other members receive the profile and content described in section 4, according to the audience each feature is designed for.
- Stripe receives your payment details to process Trybe Plus subscriptions and handle card payments. Stripe is a processor for payment and operates under its own PCI-DSS compliance.
- Google shares the profile information used for login when you choose “Sign in with Google”. [Owner to confirm whether any additional Google services are used.]
- Base44 is our hosting and platform provider; it stores the app's data and operates and secures the infrastructure.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim is used during registration to turn your device's location into a country name so we can verify your country of residence.
- Automated verification tool processes the document or selfie you upload for the Verified badge to decide whether to approve it. [Owner to name the verification provider and its role/transfer details.]
- Legal and safety disclosures: we may disclose information where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Trybe, our members, or the public.
6. International transfers and safeguards
Some of the providers listed above may process information outside the EEA/UK (for example, Stripe and Google). Where this happens we rely on the safeguards they provide, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognised transfer mechanisms.
[Owner to confirm where Trybe's data is stored and processed, and the specific safeguards relied on for each transfer outside the EEA/UK, before publication.]
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your personal information while your account is active and for as long as we need it to provide the service. When you no longer need the service, or you ask us to, we remove or anonymise personal information that is no longer needed, subject to any retention obligations we are required to meet.
- Dating profile: you can delete your dating profile at any time from Dating Settings. This removes your dating profile, your likes, and your active matches; your main Trybe account and community membership are not affected.
- Dating pause: you can also pause your dating profile from Dating Settings; while paused you will not appear in other members' discovery.
- Full account deletion: you can delete your whole Trybe account from the “Delete account” section under your profile. When you do, we cancel any active subscription at the end of your current paid period (no further renewals are charged, and your access continues until that period ends), permanently delete your profile, dating profile, likes, matches, notifications, connection requests, event RSVPs, and private messages with active matches, and permanently remove your login account so you are signed out and lose access. Community content you authored stays visible to the community but with your name and photo removed. Deletion is immediate and permanent; it cannot be reversed. For refunds, cancellation, or to exercise any statutory right of withdrawal, contact us at trybehelp@gmail.com before or after deleting — account deletion does not automatically issue a refund, and nothing in this flow limits your rights under applicable consumer-protection law.
- Billing, dispute, and security records: certain records — such as Stripe subscription and billing records, and security or anti-abuse logs — may be retained separately for as long as needed to comply with legal, tax, accounting, or security obligations, even after your account or dating profile is deleted. [Owner to provide the verified retention periods or criteria for these records.]
- Backups: our hosting provider maintains backups as part of operating and securing the service. Deletion requests take effect in the live service; removal from backups happens as those backups are recycled according to the provider's standard lifecycle. We do not promise that deletion from backups is immediate. [Owner to provide the verified backup lifecycle/retention.]
[Owner to provide the specific retention periods for inactive accounts, removed community content, deleted dating profiles, verification materials (ID/selfie), and backups before publication. This draft does not state day counts or promise a universal “GDPR default”, as these depend on the operator's confirmed practices.]
8. Your rights and how to use them
- Access and portability: you can ask for a copy of the personal data you have provided, in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Rectification: you can edit most profile information in the app; you can ask us to correct anything you cannot edit yourself.
- Erasure and restriction: you can delete your dating profile from Dating Settings, and you can request deletion or restriction of your account and data by emailing us.
- Objection: you can object to processing that relies on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing (we do not currently send direct marketing).
- Withdrawing consent: you can opt out of optional features such as dating, Passport-discovery opt-in, and (where applicable) non-essential cookies and analytics. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that has already taken place.
- How to submit a request: email trybehelp@gmail.com with your account email. We will respond within the time limit required by applicable law. [Owner to add the data-protection supervisory authority details for the confirmed jurisdiction, so members can complain to it if they wish.]
9. Security
We use platform-level access controls so that community content and dating profiles are visible only to the intended audience, private messages are visible only to their participants, and dating actions (likes, passes, undo, and the daily like limit) are enforced on the server rather than trusted from the client. Sensitive dating interactions are handled through server-side functions, and dating photos are stored privately. Payment card details are never stored by us; they are handled by Stripe under its own PCI-DSS compliance.
No service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, however. You can help by keeping your login credentials private and not sharing them, and by reporting suspicious activity to trybehelp@gmail.com.
10. Dating age restrictions and policy updates
Age restriction. You must be at least 18 years old to create a Trybe account, and the optional dating features are restricted to adults aged 18 and over. Before creating a dating profile you must explicitly confirm you are at least 18 and consent to being shown to other eligible members. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us at trybehelp@gmail.com and we will investigate and take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date. The policy takes effect from the date it is published after the operator's final approval. This draft is dated for review and is not yet a published policy.
